Jefferson & Shannon henson
Jefferson & Shannon Henson are Jesus followers first and foremost, passionate about care for the poor, racial reconciliation and foster care. They have been foster parents since 2009 and have adopted 4 beautiful children.
In 2012 they moved their family down to South Los Angeles to help plant a church in the middle of a predominately African-American community. Over the next 4 years, God opened their eyes to systemic injustices and oppression of minorities and the poor that are still actively affecting the vulnerable. During that time, they were privileged to administer an annual summer program that immersed evangelical churches into the community and cultures of South Los Angeles and exposed their members to the injustices occurring everyday. Their experiences in South Los Angeles led them to develop a Biblical framework for racial reconciliation and built in them a passion to engage the American church in the spirit of Isaiah 1:17 "Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.
Jefferson and Shannon are involved with the One Seventeen Project. Jefferson is on the Board of Directors for AMP Los Angeles and produced films for TR-BE. Jefferson writes about ministry to the poor and racial reconciliation and Shannon writes about foster care & adoption. The goal of this blog is to minister to the American evangelical church and provide resources for a Biblical perspective on social issues.
