Definition of Poverty: much more complex then we first credit it with; so much more then being without
- Economic
  - The state of being without material goods
  - Not having needs met materially / hungry
  - A result of lack of opportunity and/or laziness
- Social (Proverbs 13:22)
  - Broken relationships with those around you
  - Being the victim of exploitation of others and the perpetrator of abuse of others
- Self (manifestations of pride)
  - God complexes
  - Low self esteem
  - Both
- Spiritual
  - Apart from God
  - Worshiping idols / false gods
  - Trying to find spiritual fulfillment in other thing
Specifics of Poverty
- Take and review Survival Quiz
  - Ask where the most check marks are
  - Discuss characteristics found in Poverty, Middle Class and Wealth
    - Tools that have been developed for survival in that socio-economic class
    - Ex. B.O.D. use network to bring in $5K for fundraiser
- Hidden Rules
  - Discuss aspects of chart and experiences that confirm it
  - Relate to Biblical framework that has been established
    - Which cultural characteristic can we refer to as Biblical and what can we say opposes the Bible
